

4D NUMBER PLATES Road Legal
4D number plates are a premium, road-legal style of UK vehicle registration plate that feature laser-cut acrylic characters mounted onto a reflective base plate.
4D number plates are fully MOT-legal and road legal in the UK, if they meet all the criteria of the BS AU 145e British Standard.
⚠️ Note: Non-compliant "show plates" with unusual spacing, colours, or stylised fonts are not legal for road use and will cause MOT failure.
Maintenance & Cleaning
To keep 4D plates in optimal condition:

✅ Clean with mild car shampoo and a microfiber cloth

✅ Rinse with clean water; dry gently

❌ Avoid abrasive sponges or brushes

❌ Do not use high-pressure washers directly on the characters

❌ Avoid strong solvents or alcohol-based cleaners
IMPORTANT:
we are legally required to see proof that we are sending each registration to its entitled owner.
As soon as you place your order, you will need to send an email including a flat faced picture of one document from each section.As soon as we receive the documents we will be able to get your new number plates made and sent out to you as soon as possible.
We need to see two original documents, they can be photographed and sent email to us at
Identity documents
You can use the following to confirm your name and address:
- Driving licence
- Utility, Council Tax or rates bill from the last 6 months
- Bank or building society statement from the last 6 months
- National identity card
- The following will confirm your name only:
- Passport – doesn’t have to be issued in the UK
- Bank or building society debit or credit card
- Police warrant card
- Armed forces identity card
Proving you can use the registration number
- Vehicle registration certificate (V5C or V5CNI)
- New keeper supplement (V5C/2 or V5C/2NI)
- Certificate of entitlement (V750 or V750NI) to the number
- Retention document (V778) – not applicable in Northern Ireland
- A renewal reminder for vehicle tax or SORN (V11 or V11NI)
- Temporary registration certificate (V379 or V379NI)
- A number plate authorisation certificate (V948) with an official stamp from the Driver and Vehicle
- Licensing Agency (DVLA) or Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)
- A electronic number plate authorisation certificate (eV948)
- A letter of authorisation from a fleet operator (including lease or hire company) quoting the document reference number from the registration certificate
The photo must show the whole document, as we need to see the reference number to be able to fulfil our DVLA documentation.
